Long Lunch | Gold Coast Lifestyle Photographer | Double Barrel Kitchen

I first met Jess Winters and her partner Peter when working as the Editor of Urban List Gold Coast. I covered the opening of their first neighborhood cafe in Mermaid Waters and, a few years later, shared the good news of their super-sized sibling restaurant, Double Barrel Kitchen & Bar.

This striking, sun-drenched venue—with its Tasmanian Oak and pressed metal bar, salvaged hardwood beams lining high ceilings and dreamy cluster of rattan pendant lights completing the magazine-worthy backdrop—filled a gaping hole in the hearts of the Gold Coast’s social northern set. 

Forced to close for a few months during the height of the pandemic, upon re-opening I jumped at the opportunity to shoot some social content for them, including the rollout of their new menu. This stylish place is hospitality goals and, after the once-in-a-lifetime disruption the local industry just faced, it was a joy to witness the restaurant buzzing with happy and carefree diners, basking in the winter sunshine. Never will we take a long lunch for granted again!
